When AstroWorld opened in 1968, the flat rides were the main attraction. The park opened with 12 flat rides which were very popular when the park opened. Over the years, as amusement park history has progressed, the flat rides have taken a back seat to the roller coasters, which were non-existant at the park's opening. AstroWorld now features only 10 flat rides, but they are quite diverse.
